Introduction

Welcome to the Gweilo Guide to South East Asia. I am aiming to visit as many restaurants and eateries as possible and review them to the best of my ability. I will be rating them on a 1-5 scale; 1 - Awful; 2 - Best Avoided if at all possible; 3 - Ok, probably will not come back; 4 - Nice good food, may come back; 5 - Lovely tasty food, will definitely return (sorry, no other restaurants will be reviewed as this place is so damn good!.

A little about me, I am not that little but I will try to be brief. I am a Dr, a real one (PhD), not a medical one - i.e. not one who would be all that useful in a medical emergency, but as Doctor means teacher in Latin (and I am a teacher at a rather nice independent school in England), I feel more than qualified to use it. Sorry if this confuses you (but as it annoys medical doctors I will mention this anyway); the title Doctor was traditionally reserved for those with a Doctorate Degree. In the past most 'doctors' also had PhDs, but now this is only an honorary title, probably because applied because the great unwashed cannot spell physician. Oh yes, I was also at Oxford for a brief time.

I am based in KL during the holidays, travel as much as possible when I am here, enjoying the many pleasures and pain of chilli, and searching for good food from small non-AC places... (smaller carbon footprint - food also generally tastes nicer when it's been out in the warm for a good few hours).

And enough about me... on to the first review of a rather nice Singaporean steamed chicken rice
(Hainanese) restaurant on Selegie Road.
